Fred and Melissa had second thoughts about answering the advert. '$1000 for finding Elvis'...
"What a strange advert to find here" Melissa said "let's do it!"
"But what if it's a hoax?" A sharpei with more wrinkles than Mick Jagger strolled in holding its owner on a leash.
" I have conquered space. This will be a piece of cake."
"Yes, but finding Elvis is ridiculous."
"That's what they said about aliens, but I did it!"
"Oh all right, I suppose we could give it a shot. After all, that's what I did when I transplanted the mouse brain into George Bush. I gave it a shot of Jack and see, it was alive!"
"Well what are we waiting for?I've still got my space suit in the car. We can pick up a few supplies on the way."
"On the way where?"
"The final frontier..."
"What are you talking about?"
"You should know, you're the one who gave me Captain Kirk's brain."
A small fluffy poodle jumped onto Fred's lap and sniffed his face.
"Look Melissa, the doggy likes me!"
"Yes Fred, it's the wolf ears I transplanted last week. They think you're one of them. Get the car. We have a thousand dollars to make."

About blogging or the absence thereof...
Well, it has been a while hasn't it? I will never win Blogger of the Year that much is true. But in my defence I have been on secret missions and covert operations which saw me leopard crawling...yes...imagine that if you will...if you dare...
Anyway, I am back and it feels good, kind of like a butterfly coming out of a coccoon, or a chick hatching or an alien coming out of Sigourney Weaver...
So if we all live 'til the end of 2012, then I will be blogging more. I don't promise anything profound or interesting or even remotely relevant, but I intend to have loads of fun!

Things that go bumpity bump in the night...part deux
As it turns out there was no ghoul, goblin or ghost ... only a severely overworked nightlight that decided it couldn't light the way anymore and sang it's final lament ... so much for that then ...
Just wanted to add in a werewolf, my second favourite animal next to my own wolf-child...just love them. Freezing here today, not in the mood for much and my fingers are cramping as I type, not conducive to writing the follow up to War and Peace I don't think...
My bunny slippers are also not much help, don't think a whole warren of bunny slippers would keep this cold out - hate it...
The first production video of the Hobbit is out and it has made me so happy, can't wait to see the movies, it will be nine years since the release of the Return of the King so it's high time for a fix :-)
My digits are about to fall off, so I'd rather go...

Things that go bumpity bump in the night...
Well, not quite bump, but rather woo-woo, like a forlorn owl stuck in a pipe. This interesting noise came from the Ant's room at four in the morning. Brave mother that I am I went to investigate and half hoped that the wolf would come and help, but he was fast asleep on his chair as all good wolves are at night.
I couldn't find the origin of the sound, but it felt like something was in the room, not harmful, but it shouldn't be there really. It was gone at daylight, so now I'm thinking it really is a little owl, or it really is a little ghost that goes to sleep at dawn...hope it's the owl.
If it's back tonight I'm waking the hubby to go see, as much as I love ghouls, goblins and ghosts, I would prefer if they stayed outside or in their crypts and not come visiting the Ant...

Nursery school: the final frontier
And so the time has come for the Ant to spread her wings and fly into the great big world of the nursery school. I am left feeling scared, nauseous, anxious and also a little proud. The only problem is that I have always viewed other people's children as little recreations of Children of the Corn. Should said little Corn Children touch my child I may reduce them to teeny kernels...
But tomorrow is a big day, and I suppose being a parent is filled with these big days.We fear for them, sometimes more than they do, but that's our job. I would still prefer though to go with her and to sit on one of those Lilliputian chairs and keep a watchful eye out for a little three-year-old Casanova.
Tomorrow my dear little Ant will become a Leaping Lamb....and her mother may become a nervous wreck.

'Twas the days after Christmas...
...and all was quiet in the house. The sound of a sleeping three-year-old is more soothing than the call of a whale. Peace and quiet has descended even if only for a brief moment. The rain outside has caused a mini-flood and the wolf is soaked - he has not yet caught on to the idea of having a lair.
Noises of plastic blocks being gathered for another onslaught mean that we are entering round 755 of lone-mother-watching-small-children-while-father-fishes...
Time to find my inner 'whatever she needs me to be'.

Like a wolf on a hot tin roof
The party went screamingly well until Methos, my darling wolf-child, decided to climb on the roof of the washing room. Yes, apparently wolves can climb up walls. It wouldn't have been so bad if he wasn't in danger of breaking all four legs or worse. A piece of meat did the trick and he came down in a blur of white fur. Sam didn't relieve himself on anyone's leg and that is a bonus. I'm so happy that the party is over and done with until next year...
Got up this morning and decided that I need to extend my tattoo, so if the tattooist has an opening today I will certainly be adding to my existing art. I'm very excited...not thinking of the pain right now, can't be worse than a child's party.
Went to see Harry Potter yesterday, yes, I confess to that sin, but there is no other fantasy movie showing right now and I am not in the mood for an Angelina Jolie fest or a movie about someone named after a potato. So, HP wasn't too bad, but it has now of course caused the serious problem of me having to watch the next one too to find out what happens (I don't read the books) - don't tell anyone...
